3D Designs

I was so impressed at Lunch with the Librarians that you had looked up designs to print out in June when the Cube 2 3D printer arrives.

As I said then, please find the design you would like to print and send me a link to the page it is on. (Using the comments section below.) Please do not choose a design that costs money; we'll pay for the filament to print your object, but we won't pay for a design.

Here are free modeling programs (graphics software in which you can create three dimensional drawings called models) that let you design your own objects. You may want to learn about mesh or solid models.

• Autodesk 123D  here is a download page for PC, Mac or Ipad, plus video tutorials  I am not sure if these are free . . .
• Tinkercad
• Makerbot (this is a free download, but we will not be printing with makerbot printer - please check to see if your design is compatible with cubify)

Tinkerplay - here's an article about it (I tried it - you choose parts and assemble a character - enhance 
it's size and texture. Each piece will print separately, and the whole snaps together.)

Robot links

I'm so happy many of you are excited about the robots we are planning on creating 'real' bodies for using the 3d printer (more on that in another post).

The parts were purchased from EZ-Robot, and the software is called EZ-builder. You can learn how to create your own programs to activate the robot. Keep in mind when you look over the tutorials, which are a combination of text and video, that we have version 3, not 4. We communicate by Bluetooth with the robot, not WiFi; our robots have cameras, but we do not have sound.

I'm looking on the 3D sites for robots to see if any of the designs will work with our parts. We have a 'motherboard' and six pack for the AA batteries that take quite a bit of space.

Game Day this Saturday

And the Tournaments are Card Games: Magic, YuGiOh, and Pokemon. One card pack to each winner! I spent money on nunchuks, so the library now has four for the Wii! And we are playing Muscle March, a new download of an old video game. It's pretty silly, but some of you may enjoy it more than Abba!

Game playing starts at 11, Tournaments start at noon. Other video and board games will be available to play until 2:30.

This is the last Game Day until the fall.
